Holobox Not Displaying Content: Common Fixes

Troubleshooting & Support

Resolving "No Content" Issues on Your Holodxb Holobox

If your Holodxb holobox is powered on but not displaying your holographic content, don't worry! Here are some common troubleshooting steps you can take to quickly diagnose and resolve the issue.

1. Check Power and Indicators:

  • Is the Holobox On? Ensure the holobox's power indicator light is on (usually blue or green). If not, verify the power cable is securely plugged into both the holobox and a working wall outlet. Try a different outlet.

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the holobox, wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.

2. Verify Content Source Connection:

  • HDMI/Display Cables:

    • Securely Connected? Ensure the HDMI (or other display) cable is firmly plugged into both the holobox's input port and your content playback device's output port. Wiggle the cable gently to confirm.

    • Try Another Cable: If available, swap out the cable for a different one. Cables can sometimes fail.

    • Check Input Port: If the holobox has multiple input ports (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2), try connecting to a different one.

  • USB Drive:

    • Fully Inserted? Ensure the USB drive is fully inserted into the holobox's USB port.

    • Supported Format? Is the content on the USB drive in a supported video format (MP4 H.264 recommended) and are there any files on the drive? (See Supported File Formats for Holographic Displays).

    • Try Another USB Port/Drive: If available, try a different USB port or a different, known-working USB drive.

3. Confirm Input Source Selection:

  • Correct Input Selected? On the holobox's remote control or control panel, press the "Input," "Source," or "Menu" button to navigate to the input selection.

  • Match to Connection: Select the input source that corresponds to where your content device is connected (e.g., if connected to HDMI 1, select "HDMI 1").

  • For USB: If playing from USB, ensure you navigate to the "Media Player" or "USB" section in the holobox's menu.

4. Check Your Content Playback Device:

  • Is Your Device On? Ensure your laptop, media player, or other source device is powered on and not in sleep mode.

  • Playing Content? Verify that content is actually playing on your source device. Open the video file or start your presentation.

  • Display Settings (for Laptops):

    • Windows: Right-click desktop > Display settings. Ensure "Extend these displays" or "Duplicate these displays" is selected, and that the holobox is detected as a secondary monitor.

    • macOS: System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement. Ensure "Mirror Displays" is checked if you want duplication, or configure extended desktop.

  • Resolution/Frequency: Ensure your device's output resolution and refresh rate are compatible with the holobox (typically 1920x1080 @ 25/30/60Hz).

5. Try a Different Content File:

  • Test with a different, known-working holographic video file to rule out content corruption or an unsupported codec issue.

6. Perform a Soft Reset:

  • If the above steps don't work, turn off both the holobox and your content source device. Unplug them from power, wait for 1 minute, then plug them back in and power them on, following the connection steps again.
