Connecting your device to the Holobox

Most Holobox units accept content over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or USB. Here is the order of operations we recommend, plus the most common gotchas.

01

Pre-flight checks

Confirm the unit is fully booted and the on-screen logo is showing before you connect anything. If you see a black screen, give it 30 seconds — startup calibration takes longer than a regular display.

02

Wired (recommended for events)

Plug the supplied Ethernet cable from the unit into your venue's router or a dedicated switch. The unit pulls an IP automatically. Open the dashboard URL printed on the rental sticker on the back of the unit and you'll see your Holobox listed.

03

Wi-Fi

Open the dashboard, choose your unit, then Connect to Wi-Fi. Pick the SSID and enter the password. Note that captive-portal networks (most hotel guest Wi-Fi) will not work — ask the venue for an event-grade network.

04

USB

For air-gapped venues you can drop content directly onto a FAT32 USB drive in the right folder structure. Plug it into the back of the unit and it auto-detects within five seconds.

05

Common issues

If your unit isn't appearing in the dashboard, check that you're on the same network. If content uploads but doesn't render, the file is most likely too large — see the supported formats article for size guidance.
